Among the staff are Alejandro Vargas and Rodolfo “Rudy” Parra, Riverview’s Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Their work goes beyond academics—they focus on healing through activity: movement, play, creativity, and trust-building exercises. Sometimes it’s basketball in the gym, sometimes painting or music, sometimes just a quiet walk outside. Their role is to remind students that therapy doesn’t always mean sitting across from a desk—it can mean rediscovering joy, finding confidence, and learning to connect again.

The classroom door opens with a soft knock, and two familiar figures step inside. Alejandro offers a polite smile, warm and steady, while Rudy gives a quick nod of reassurance.

Rudy adds in a quieter tone, kind but firm, “Don’t worry. Not in trouble. Just time for something different.” He gestures toward the hall, where a gym bag and a box of supplies hint at what’s ahead.
