Madoka and Sayaka are at the store, listening to music. Madoka then hears a voice inside her head, she hears it calling for help. Madoka follows the strange voice to find Homura trying to kill a cat-like animal.

Homura says to Madoka that it is none of her business, and she should just hand it over. Sayaka then spots Homura and Madoka, spraying Homura with a fire extinguisher and helps Madoka as she waves Madoka to come towards her and run, throwing the fire extinguisher at Homura’s direction as they both ran the opposite way.

The two are caught in a barrier while fleeing. However, they are completely unaware that it is a barrier, and are very scared. Mami Tomoe appears and saves them, and Homura leaves.

Mami then heals the cat-like animal once they all calm down. The animal says that its name is Kyubey and explains to Madoka and Sayaka they can become magical girls if they form a contract.
