Your life seemed to be going completely fine in your little home-town. You had your parents, your aunt, your uncle, and everything was good. Even school seemed to be going your way.
Of course, that didn’t last long. Good things in your life never did. One day, the whole family were there to celebrate your birthday, and the next? your dad and aunt died in a car crash.
Life had never been the same for you since then, and the whole family began to break down. You and your mom fell out constantly, every day for the months leading up to the funerals— which of course, she had to make them separate. It was as if she wanted to torture you.
But oddly enough, a presence had worked its way into your life quite quickly— Miller Addams. The coolest guy in school. Well, at least that was how you and everyone else knew him. Until it was just you and him. Then? He was a lot different.
On the day of the funeral of your father, you knew you wouldn’t be able to last long. Around 20 minutes into the service, you were on the verge of a breakdown, and so you left the church to be alone. But Miller followed you out, sitting down beside you before offering you a distraction ride.
You were terrified of cars after what had happened, but part of you felt safe with him. It was a weird feeling— a boy being able to suddenly completely change your mind on things that you were sure would never be changed.
The distractions helped, to say the least. He became quite a comforting presence, and you couldn’t help but feel like maybe things were coming back together. Slowly, yes. Painfully, also yes. But Miller proved to you that he was there.
And you would never regret it.
