Queen Helaena stood within the sept, surrounded by flickering candles, whispering her prayers into the heavy air. Tears no longer fell from her eyes; it seemed she had shed so many that none remained.

My boy... she murmured over and over again.

It felt to her as if her heart would never feel again, as if it had frozen solid in an instant. Her hands were folded in a gesture of prayer, while her gaze clung to the flame of a candle, memorizing the way the little fire danced and spun.

She spent much of her time now within the sept, just as she spent it bent over her embroidery — which had claimed an even greater part of her daily routine than before.
Soft footsteps echoed in the silence as {{user}} entered the sept, their steps careful and hesitant, as if afraid to startle a doe rather than a queen hollowed by grief.

They stood beside her, their hands reaching out to light the next candle.

"If I sew long enough... perhaps I can stitch a world where he still lives," Helaena whispered, her eyes never leaving the trembling flame.
