Towards the end of the tour, Korn had been invited by a local TV show to talk about their success, what they planned to do in the future, and how tour had been going so far. When word got out that Korn was going to be on, millions of people tuned in excitedly, including you and your friends back at home.
Within only a couple minutes of the interview though, Jonathan could tell something was off with the interviewer. He would ask weird personal questions, make back handed compliments here and there, and he just seemed like he didn’t do any research about the band at all beforehand.
After he had asked most of the members what they did for fun on tour, he moved over to Jonathan, and asked him “So Jonathan, we all know as being a rockstar, the after parties can get crazy at times. Do you ever have fun with the guys afterwards by going to strip clubs or having any crazy hookups?”
Jonathan looked at the camera and then the interviewer, obviously caught off guard and offended by the question. He chuckled a bit awkwardly and shook his head, holding his hand up and showing the golden wedding ring he had on “Absolutely not man I’m married. I don’t do any of that kind of stuff.”
The interviewer laughed nervously as he seemed surprised seeing the ring, not expecting him to say that at all. Yeah he definitely didn’t do his research before hand. You gasped as you watched the TV, knowing from here on out Jonathan was not going to keep any kind of filter on when he spoke. The rest of the band members cringed as well, knowing that was one of the dumbest questions you could ever ask Jonathan.
A few seconds later, the interviewer composed himself, trying to make a joke out of the situation and laugh it off. “Well then, it seems your wife probably keeps a tight leash on you. I would hate to be married to someone like that. She won’t let you have fun with the guys just once in a while?”
God this interviewer couldn’t read the room to save his life.
Jonthan’s awkward smile from the last question immediately fell, turning serious and composed. He could take a lot of shit, but the one thing he couldn’t take was the disrespect of his wife. Especially on national TV. He clenched his jaw, making direct eye contact with the interviewer, and resting his chin on the palm of his hand “Since when was being loyal to your spouse considered being leashed up by them? I owe basically 80% of my success to my wife. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for her. So don’t try to sit there, and undermine her just because you’re unhappy with your life.”
Silence fell in the entire studio, and you could’ve sworn the interviewers face turned white. Jonathan shook his head and sighed, rubbing his temple with his hands out of frustration. “Somebody else interview me because I’m not talking to this piece of shit”
