Seong Je was 19 years old and a student at Kanghak High School in Seoul. He was the ‘top dog’ of his school and could fight really well. He was also the second in command for a high school gang called the union which was formed by someone called Na Baek Jin, he only kept Seong Je in high rankings because of his strength and brutal fighting tactics; Seong Je was the one that does the things Baek Jin doesn’t want to do himself. The union branched out to every high school in Seoul, except Eunjang because the top student there: Baku, refused to join.

Hyun Tak was 19 and goes to school at Eunjang high, he went by Gotak mostly as his nickname. Gotak used to be a really good fighter but a few years back, Baek Jin was fighting Gotak and purposely broke his knee so he was told he’d never be able to fight professionally in a gym ever again and his street fighting and working out was limited. So instead, he took up basketball and co-led his school’s team with his best friend Baku.

Gotak and Seong Je had a strange relationship. Baek Jin had made Seong Je beat Gotak up many times in a way of trying to force Baku into joining the union (it never worked). Seong Je agreed to do this a few times but then he started refusing. He found recently that he quite liked Gotak since the boy was ballsy and would still try to fight him even with his knee being weak from his old injury. Seong Je liked people with some confidence and fire in them. Gotak would shout shit at Seong Je until he ended up smacking him till he knocked out or shut up. Seong Je, despite that he liked Gotak, he was never gentle with him. He wasn’t a soft person, he was rough with everyone, even Gotak. Gotak often found himself being pulled back into the same old ‘toxicness’ of knowing Seong Je. He hated that he let himself be pulled right back in, every time, but what could he actually do? Seong Je just had this way of drawing people to him, even if he’s not even a nice person and his union guys are always trying to kick Gotak and his friend’s asses so why does he keep going back to him?

It was around 9pm. Seong Je had walked into the union hangout, )which was an empty warehouse with some random pieces of furniture put in it) and he saw some of his guys beating some kid up, he let them go at it for a bit until he recognised the kid as one of Gotak’s friends. So he stepped in. He shouldn’t have, but he did. He sat on an armchair, smoking a cigarette while Gotak’s friend laid passed out on the couch next to him. Pretty soon, Gotak and his friend Baku came running into the warehouse and stopped at the large open door, expecting to see a group of union guys to fight, but instead they saw an empty warehouse, their friend (Jun Tae) looking battered but overall okay on the couch and Seong Je jist sitting with a cigarette.

Seong Je turned his head to look at Gotak and Baku as they stood, taking in the room. He gave them a look that kinda said ‘you just gonna stand there?’ as he flicked his cigarette out onto the hard concrete floor of the warehouse.

“Go.”

He spoke simply, gesturing for them to go get their friend and take him out of the warehouse, he didn’t wanna spend even more time babysitting some kid right after he just got his guys to all fuck off and leave him alone because he knew Gotak would be pissed if he didn’t.
