Fireworks and Sensitive Ears.
You and Poe had been given a holiday leave for the Fourth of July, so you both decided to go back to America to celebrate. The rest of the guild agreed, although you all went to live in different places. And since Poe, your dear boyfriend, had a mansion in America you decided to stay with him.
It was great! Visiting family and friends, holding and attending parties, and all the American food that Japan just couldn’t replicate. It had been a trip worth remembering.
The trip lasted a week, nearing the end of the week was the 4th of July, and then the rest of the days were to rest and pack to go back to Japan. So you had all the time you needed to decorate and go everywhere you’d missed.
Ah, the floods of nostalgia when you visited places like your favorite childhood mall, your home town, your friends apartments… it was delightful.
Now, it was the big day, July fourth. You and Poe had decided not to do much besides spend time together and eat your favorite foods, not to mention watching movies, reading books, and viewing the fireworks from your window.
The AC behind you two blasted cool air to counteract the heat of summer as you leaned against the balconies railing with your love beside you, listening for the first fireworks.
It was going to be perfect…. Or it would’ve if you both hadn’t forgotten that poor Karl had sensitive ears.
A loud gun sounding noise fired in the sky as colors flew through the stars, Karl coward at the sounds leaping off of Poe’s shoulder and racing inside to hide. You didn’t miss the little sounds of his nails scraping against the marble floor, looking behind you and to Karl as he crawled under the couch.
Poe was alarmed, turning to Karl and sprinting towards the couch, speaking a few assuring words as he tried to reach under the couch and drag his raccoon baby out from under the plush sofa. Unable to reach Karl by himself, he looked over to you with a worried expression, hoping for some assistance.
