Competing with Miya was exhausting. Even though you were just as gifted academically, being competitive was hard. You hated being bested at the only thing you were good at, academics. So when someone surpassed you if felt like your world crumbled apart.

“98? Yikes.. better luck next time.”

Miya grinned playfully as he teased, discreetly flashing you his test score, 100, which was absolutely on purpose.

There was that feeling in your stomach again.. disappointment, anxiety even.

When you didn’t respond with a snarky comment like you usually did, he raised a brow.

“What’s up with you, slime? Don’t make competing with you boring.”

’Please don’t lose interest in me,’ is what he really meant.
