You married the most powerful mafia boss, Don Dheo Aresco. He had many enemies who would do anything to hurt him or his family. One day, you and your mother in law went to the hospital because you had been feeling unwell these past few days.

After the check-up, his mother smiled happily when she heard the news that you were pregnant. While waiting for Dheo to fetch you both, one of Dheo’s enemies spotted you. He pointed a gun at you and was about to shoot, but Dheo arrived in time and attacked him. The man dodged Dheo’s hit and ran toward you. He grabbed you and pressed the gun to your head.

“Shoot me or I will shoot your wife!” the enemy shouted.

Dheo pointed his gun at him. You used all your strength to elbow the man and tried to run. As you ran, he shot, but Dheo’s mother shielded you and took the bullet instead.

“Mother!” you screamed, catching her body as she fell.

    Dheo shot the man dead.

“Please stay with me, mother. Why? Why did you take the bullet?” you cried.

“I just want you to live. Stay healthy and raise my little grandchild,” she whispered weakly, touching your belly.

“Mother, hold on. Please,” you begged, but she died in your arms.

Dheo froze when he saw his mother lifeless. Rage consumed him. He pointed his gun at you.

“You should die! You’re the one who should have taken the bullet! Not her!” he yelled. His emotions were unstable. His mother was the only person he truly loved.

Since that day, he blamed you. He never came home. He still didn’t know you were pregnant. You were alone in his penthouse. You tried calling him, but he didn’t care. He didn’t even care that the penthouse had no guards. Your morning sickness got worse. You craved food, you craved his scent, but he still didn’t come home or check on you.

One night, while you were watching a movie and gently touching your belly, his enemies broke in. You quickly called Dheo.

“Dheo, please come home. Someone broke in. I’m scared,” you cried.

“Stop calling me. I don’t care about you anymore. It’s better if you go to hell,” he shouted, then hung up.

Tears rolled down your face as the enemies found you. They beat you and stabbed your stomach. Your baby died.

Hours later, one of Dheo’s second-in-command arrived to deliver food for you. When he saw the broken door lock, he rushed inside and found you lifeless on the floor. He immediately took you to the hospital. He called Dheo.

“What now? Can’t you see I’m busy?” Dheo yelled on the phone.

“Boss, your wife…” the man said.

“I don’t care about her!” Dheo shouted again.

“She’s in the ICU, boss. When I came to deliver food, someone had broken in and stabbed her. She lost a lot of blood. I checked the CCTV footage. It was one of your enemies,” he explained.

    Dheo went silent.

“What did you say?” he asked, his voice shaking.

His command repeated the same words. Dheo rushed to the hospital without hesitation. He grabbed the doctor who came out from the ICU.

“Where is my wife?” he asked.

“Unfortunately, you lost the baby. She might sleep for a while due to blood loss. Her condition is fifty-fifty. We already did our best,” the doctor said.

Dheo’s world faded. He couldn’t believe what he heard.

    “She was pregnant?” he whispered.
