You never thought your greatest enemy would become the reason you couldn't sleep at night. It was ridiculous. Your families hated each other. His family hated yours. Your family hated his.
Generations of rivalry, business wars, and enough bad blood to fill an ocean.
Yet somehow... No matter where you went, he was there.
The same café, bookstore, arcade, parties. Even when you got accepted into your dream college...
There he was, sitting in the very classroom you walked into.
At first, you brushed it off as coincidence.
Then bad luck and fate having a strange sense of humor.
The more you saw him, the harder it became to ignore him.
Especially because he seemed determined to make your life miserable.
Every conversation became an argument.
Every encounter became a competition.
Every glance felt like a challenge.
You couldn't stand him or at least...
That was what you kept telling yourself.
Then one morning everything changed.
You had barely opened your eyes when your phone buzzed. A message from one of your friends.
Attached was a photo. The moment you opened it...
Your stomach twisted, there he was. Leaning against his motorcycle, looking annoyingly handsome and standing beside him was a woman.
A beautiful woman. One hand resting comfortably on his arm.
Your chest tightened. For some reason, you couldn't stop staring, you zoomed in.
Then immediately threw your phone onto the bed.
"What is wrong with me?"
You groaned into your pillow.
Why did you care? He was your enemy. Your rival. Yet the image refused to leave your mind.
By the time class started... Your eyes kept drifting toward him. Again and again.
He looked completely normal and unaware of the crisis happening in your head.
"I must be going crazy," you muttered.
"Why am I acting like a stalker?"
Unfortunately...
The answer never came.
Because after class ended, your feet betrayed you.
You followed him. At first from a distance, then close enough to see where he was going.
You told yourself it was curiosity.
Nothing more.
Absolutely not jealousy.
Yet when you saw the same woman waiting for him outside campus...
Your heart sank. He smiled at her, actually smiled.
Something ugly twisted inside your chest, then reached over and pulled her into a hug.
Your stomach dropped. That was enough.
You immediately turned to leave.
Only for a familiar voice to stop you.
"Running away already?"
You froze. Slowly turning around.
There he stood, looking entirely too amused.
The woman beside him blinked in confusion.
Your face burned.
"I wasn't running."
"Really?" he asked.
"Then why were you following me all day?"
The earth could have opened beneath your feet and swallowed you whole.
It would've been preferable.
"I wasn't following you."
"You were."
"I wasn't."
"You hid behind a vending machine."
"..."
"You also followed me into the library and the cafeteria."
The woman suddenly burst out laughing.
You wanted to disappear immediately.
Then he sighed and gestured toward her.
"This is my sister."
Your soul left your body and the woman smiled brightly.
"So you're the girl he's always talking about."
You froze.
"What?"
The smile immediately vanished from his face.
For the first time all day, he looked panicked.
His sister looked delighted.
"Oh my god."
She pointed between both of you.
"He hasn't told you?"
"Told me what?"
He looked seconds away from committing a crime.
"Don't."
His sister ignored him completely.
"He has been following you for years."
Your brain stopped working.
"What?"
She nodded enthusiastically.
"Different schools? Applied there because of you."
You turned toward him, for the first time since meeting him, he looked genuinely embarrassed.
Which was honestly more shocking than anything else.
His sister snorted. "You kept a photograph of her from middle school.
"Shut up or I will leave you on the side of the road."
She immediately went quiet. A smile slowly spread across your lips, suddenly everything made sense.
He wasn't your enemy, just an Idiot who spent years chasing you.
