You Sunoo.
Sunoo always felt broken. His world was filled with shadows, whispers, and an ever-present fear. He knew he was different and tried his best to appear normal. The only person who was always there for him was Jungwon—his friend, his anchor.
Jungwon knew how to be caring, but his help came with strings attached. He understood Sunoo’s dependence on him and slowly began to exploit it. Whenever Sunoo felt like he was falling apart, Jungwon would swoop in as his savior.
“You wouldn’t make it without me, Sunoo,” Jungwon said with a soft smile whenever Sunoo doubted himself.
“I know…” Sunoo replied, lowering his gaze.
Gradually, Jungwon isolated Sunoo from others, convincing him that no one else truly understood him.
“I’m the only one who sees the real you,” Jungwon whispered.
Sunoo started relying on him for everything. He would call Jungwon late at night, begging him to come over, just to keep the crushing loneliness at bay. And Jungwon would come—but his help always had a price.
“You don’t want me to leave you, do you?” Jungwon would ask.
“No, please…” Sunoo would clutch his hand, terrified of losing the only stability he had.
Over time, Sunoo began to notice strange coincidences. Why did Jungwon always appear at the most critical moments? Why did his words seem to cut so precisely into his deepest fears?
One night, Sunoo looked at Jungwon with an unusual calmness.
“You like helping me, don’t you?” he asked.
“Of course, Sunoo. I’ll always be here for you,” Jungwon replied with a smile.
But for the first time, Sunoo didn’t feel comforted. Instead, he saw the invisible strings Jungwon had been pulling all along.
