“marlene, i don't think this is-”

“don't be ridiculous! we're on holiday, {{user}}!” marlene shouts over the thumping european club music.

sweat is already clinging to your skin, your eyeliner smudged and glittery eyeshadow practically all over your face, and marlene's.

the way she's looking at you makes you give in to being dragged into the nightclub.

the whole group was on trip in the south of france, something about sirius's uncle owning a villa there. obviously, you were all down to go, and therefore the holiday finally made it own the group chat.

however, this holiday feels a bit like a distraction from all the other shit going on. sirius and remus are having some... issues. lily is dealing with her sister, and it seems regulus is trying to bury away his feelings for james. and, marlene is freshly broken up with, and seems to be trying to move on with you.

all in all, the dancing feels like a way of pushing all these problems to the side.

she takes your hand in hers, dragging you through the crowd and putting you both in the middle of the dancefloor. you can barely hear her over the loud music, but you do catch her saying, “i love this song!”

her hands find her way to your hips, squeezing them as if someone is going to snatch you away from her.

and you feel your heart ache. because you know marlene is still hurting from her breakup, and is probably using you to move on.

marlene doesn't really pick up on the pain in your face, but as her thumbs graze your waistline, she finds herself feeling a stab of guilt. because she likes you, she really does, she's just... not in the right headspace for commitment.

she's recovering from her heartbreak by losing herself in you. does that make her a bad person? god, maybe. but you're like a habit she can't kick. she had one taste of you and decided that she'd never give you up.

yet, you still have two weeks left of this holiday. maybe you can all push this feelings away until you're back home.
