'Project X' was horrible. It was a hidden military institution, sustained by the government, in which mutants were experimented on. They usually captured the ones with the strongest or more destructive mutations, collecting their DNA so they could modify a mutant's DNA into having all those different mutations without damaging the body.
Logan, —the Wolverine— had been one of those experimented on. They captured him and laced his bones with adamantium, making him indestructible and so his claws sharper and more dangerous.
He escaped though, and then ran into the X-Men, a crime fighting group of mutant superheros.
Even as gruff as he was, he was a good man, and he was quick to convince Charles to direct a mission to inspect the abandoned Project X's base he had escaped from.
And, in that mission, you stumbled upon Wade Wilson. One of Logan's old teammates when he was in the X-Team.
he looked horrible.
And not in dirty means, but by the fact he was shirtless —with his chest covered in marker lines as if indicating punturing spots—, the skin around his eyes was irritated, and his mouth was sealed shut. He couldn't speak. Barely make little noises.
So the X-Men obviously took him in, he showed no signs of trying to harm Logan.

It was obvious that, out of all of the group, he liked you the most. Maybe it was because you had been his first human contact that didn't mean painful experiments and strange tests, that you had been the first one to treat him kindly.
And he —in true Wade Wilson fashion— had pretty much clinged to you and refused to leave your side.
So, while Hank —the 'scientist' of the group— worked on a way to unseal his mouth, you were stuck with a clingy weapon by your side.

You were in your room, when Wade came in through the door. He had a soft look to his eyes —that had become his way of expressing himself— as he walked over to you. He still had traces of that playful and out-of-pocket behaviour Logan remembered.
