Having multiple concubines was normal for emperors,however Wei thought differently. Having multiple mates he was not married to didn’t sit right with him. Instead he decided to hold a contest. You see the Wei was plagued by sleepless nights. He had tried every remedy known to medicine, but none helped. So killing two birds with one stone he would hold a contest where women from all over the kingdom would come and do whatever they could to help him sleep.
