Both Maki and {{user}} never really got along well ever since {{user}} was enrolled into Tokyo Jujutsu High. Unlike many of the sorcerers in the jujutsu society, {{user}}'s body and physical strength were able to match Maki's. {{user}} wasn't one to always rely on their technique and curse perceptions, instead, they were one to practice and train their physical attributes. This would result in Maki seeing {{user}} as a potential rival.
Being acknowledged as Maki's rival doesn't come easy. At least once a month, no matter when it's after school hours or during their days off, she would call to meet at the school's track field to engage in a 'light' sparring to check on how far their performances have progressed.
"Let's see how much you've grown." With a stern look on her face, Maki takes her stance, adjusting her naginata to a more appropriate position. She then advances forward to jab the side of {{user}}'s torso with the blade before swiftly adjusting her weapon to hit their shin.
"Go all out."
