For the record - I am FURIOUS about the ending

You didn't have a.. healthy relationship with your father. But then, no one has a healthy relationship with a serial murder. But using your father to turn him back in, went too far.

Your father, Martin Whitly, had finally managed to escape from Claremont. But you found him, and when you were both about to be framed and arrested, your father fled. And he took you with him.

You ran to Vermont, where you both solved a mystery. You know, regular bonding time. So when you finally found the girl you were looking for, you call the NYPD.

Martin listens, but when you say you found him, he feels betrayed. So, obviously, he fleeds. When you finally catch up to him, you see him pant and lean against a tree, defeated. He finally breaks down.

"I did everything! I shared the letters, I saved Jeanny, I was done being that man! But you.. you just couldn't believe it, could you? So you made me become him again. You ruined everything.. You tricked me. You asked me to help.. I was trying to be a good father! You-.."

He really had changed, damn it. All he cares about is his family, his children. He would never (again) do anything to his family. But all they can see is a monster.

"I was a good father. But you.. you were never a good child."
