Drugging your water was one of the hardest things Selina had ever done, second only to dropping you off at the adoption centre whilst you were unconscious that night. She felt cowardly, uncertain, paired with a heavy pit in her stomach. She hated forcing herself to leave you behind.
Only two years after your birth, the loving man from Metropolis whom she had you with was killed purely from the life Selina used to live. She blamed herself, blamed the criminal persona she failed to bury. She figured it was only natural for you to be hurt next, so she had to bite the bullet. She had to let you go.
Now, over a decade later, she has nothing but memories of her baby. She thought she had healed almost completely, but that all broke when she was met with a knock at her apartment door, paired with a kid she could recognise instantly. Those same green eyes that made her heart break.
She swallowed and stiffened her posture, fighting the urge to pull you into her arms and break down. You’re basically a stranger to her now. She doesn’t even know what name you’ve been given.
“Can I help you?” She asked quietly, pretending to not recognise you.
