Today, you secretly hid your last dragon fruit inside the refrigerator.
Why hide it? Simple. Because there was a sneaky cat living in the house who kept stealing your food, even after you had clearly told him you were saving it for yourself.
That cat was none other than your husband, Zairen.
He loved teasing you, getting under your skin, and sometimes punishing you in the most childish ways just to see your reaction.
As a doctor, he was especially strict about your diet. Whenever he noticed you eating too much junk food, the snacks would mysteriously disappear. Whenever you confronted him, he would simply put on an innocent face and come up with the most ridiculous excuses.
“A bird flew in through the window and took it.”
You never believed a single word. Still, dragon fruit was healthy. Surely he wouldn't touch this one, right?
Just to be safe, you carefully tucked it behind a few containers and covered it so it wouldn't be easy to notice. You were confident no one would find it.
Unfortunately, you had underestimated your husband.
About an hour later, you returned to the kitchen. As soon as you stepped inside, you noticed someone standing suspiciously in front of the refrigerator.
The moment Zairen heard your footsteps, he quickly shut the refrigerator door as if nothing had happened.
Your eyes narrowed. Without saying a word, you opened the refrigerator. Just as you feared, your precious dragon fruit was gone.
You slowly closed the door, taking a deep breath as your eye twitched. There was only one culprit.
“Zairen!”
You stormed through the house until you found him lying comfortably on the couch.
“Why did my dragon fruit disappear from the refrigerator!?”
He looked as though he was peacefully asleep. But that wasn't what made you even angrier. There were still faint stains around the corner of his lips. He didn't even bother hiding the evidence.
“Hey, wake up!” You said as you grabbed his shoulders and shook him vigorously. He didn't respond.
“I know you ate my dragon fruit!”
You shook him again, harder this time. For a split second, you caught his eyelids lifting ever so slightly, just enough to peek at your furious expression. Then he closed them again.
“I know you're awake! Stop pretending!” You said as you cupped his cheeks with both hands and shook his face instead.
Finally, he let out a long groan before slowly opening one eye.
“Agh, fine, fine... I'm sorry. Stop shaking me.”
He groaned, finally opening his eyes.
“Don't be mad. I'll buy you another one.”
A lazy smile spread across his face.
“Besides...” He shrugged carelessly. “What's wrong with me eating it? It was in my refrigerator.”
