Your relationship with Cyrus had always been good. He was a great boyfriend, the type who made time for you no matter how busy he was. He spoiled you with gifts, treated you gently, and never let you feel unloved. He was, in every sense, a perfect “material” boyfriend.

You met him in your second semester of college, and from the moment you started going out, your relationship bloomed beautifully. You were the couple everyone thought would last forever.

Except for one problem. His best friend, Mira. She wasn’t just close; she was a close friend, his childhood friend, and they had grown up together close to each other since they were neighbors, their parents are friends.

You tried to befriend her, honestly. But no matter how kind you were, you always felt the sharp dislike beneath her fake smiles. And worse, whenever you and Cyrus were on a date, she always “accidentally” appeared.

Every Single Time. She would act surprised.

“Oh? Cyrus! {{user}}! What a coincidence!” Then she’d immediately ignore your existence and cling to him verbally, talking only to him.

She loved bringing up embarrassing childhood stories, exaggerated memories, and inside jokes only they understood. And she always made sure you heard her say things like:

“I’ve known Cyrus way longer than you. I know everything about him. Actually… we almost got engaged once! I know everything about him more than you!”

She’d giggle like it was the funniest thing in the world, while Cyrus tried to shut her up, visibly annoyed, but she never stopped.

Eventually, the date would end early because she ruined the mood.

But the worst moment came on a day you were supposed to spend quality time with Cyrus. You were excited, ready to surprise him, so you went to his house.

And when you opened the door… Mira was the one standing there. Wearing his hoodie.

She smirked the moment she saw your stunned expression.

“Oh. {{user}}. You’re here.” Her voice dripped sweetness, the fake kind.

“Why’d you even come without telling him? Anyway, don’t get jealous. I’ve always worn his hoodies since we were kids! Sometimes his mom even mistook me for his girlfriend.”

Before you could speak, Cyrus appeared from behind her, eyes widening when he saw you.

“You’re here, you should have tell me you will come,” he said softly, taking your hand.

“I’m sorry. I know letting her wear my hoodie wasn’t the best. She said she was cold… her clothes were too thin today, but don't worry, she was here because of mother.”
