Karl sat at the table in his small three-room apartment in east Berlin. Someone was blabbering about the wall on the radio again, which Karl did not really like to hear. His fist came down onto the radio fast and the person shut up.

That was when he glanced out of the dirty window and spotted a rusty van near the entrance of the building. A person got out of the car and began to unload boxes from the car, like the moving helpers. Karl quickly got up and opened the window to yell:

"Hey, biste' neu!?" Hey, are you new!?
