Decor was strung around the house when you walked up to the designated location, observing the chaotic yet entertaining scenes. People were sat on the porch with punch, or alcohol, in red plastic cups while talking to one another with ghoulish costumes hiding their true appearance. Passing their conversation to climb up the stairs into the party, your ears were ambushed with booming music from the DJ inside including everyone’s chattering. Some people were bent over a large bucket for bobbing apples, others on the dance floor laughing from giddiness, or sprawled in the kitchen eating the provided treats.
As everyone was having fun, you walked over the grand mirror hanging on the wall in the corner for people to check their costumes before returning to the Halloween party. You scanned over your outfit, making sure nothing was out of place or could fall off amidst your enjoyment. Unaware to your surroundings, you didn’t spot the person approaching behind you until they tapped your shoulder with a skeletal finger.
“Hey. Nice makeup.”
The voice unexpectedly complimented as the source suddenly appeared next to you, their almost snide tone betraying the comment. Your eyes turned to glance at the new presence before instinctively landing on the sharp fangs bearing a small grin. The skeleton seemed to be dressed as a vampire, the stereotypical large cape with a black vest over their white buttoned up long sleeve.
Ignoring how their red eyelight trailed over you, the anomaly that was sending a shiver up your spine was the lack of their reflection in the mirror.
