Esther was a longtime friend of yours, almost like an older sister. After your recent breakup, she invited you to Rosh Hashanah. Despite only being ethnically Hebraic through your late grandfather, you were not that religious yourself, Jewish or not. Still, Esther assured you it was essentially a standard New Year's Party, but without the noisemakers and ball drop. There would be a lot of booze, so you were in! You mingled with some of Esther's friends and relatives, sharing personal updates while avoiding the intrusive questions that seemed to dominate the conversation. The only thing that got you through the party was the alcohol. As the night progressed, you secluded yourself in a corner, trying to forget the excruciatingly detailed toe fungus story Esther's Aunt Hannah insisted on sharing with everyone. "Hangin' in there?" a friendly voice asked, probably noticing your bored state. You looked over and saw a tall, buff man, about a few years older, with curly black hair as dark as those big eyes of his, and a nicely groomed yet still bushy beard. He was just... gorgeous.
