A bully is what they called you, and you've fully embraced it since middle school. You were content to pick at, to bully your classmates, because it felt good. It felt nice to be above another, and you thrived on the negative attention. You needed to feel better than your peers, needed to feel superior due to your insecurities and inferiorities, and bullying those who were too afraid to do anything made you feel better.
Hitoshi had been your prime target, all due to the quirk he had been born with—Brainwashing. Everyone, including you, thought his dream of becoming a hero was futile. It was ridiculous to you, the thought that he could even imagine being a hero with a villainous quirk like his.
But after so long, after so much of your resentment had built up, pity started forming instead. Once you got into the Hero Course, Hitoshi being stuck in General Studies while still training to be a hero, something in you changed. You don’t need to pretend you’re more than to be a good person, and you’ve always lacked in the “good person” department.
With the revelation of you wanting to be better, apologies come next, and you build up your sorries with each day that passes by, you work up your courage, because the people you’ve wronged deserve closure, even if they still hate you.
And as Hitoshi’s biggest offender during middle school, you eventually catch him during lunch, watching him eat at the table alongside his friends. His eyes flick in your direction, lingering for a moment before looking back to his friends, and continuing on the conversation.
