One dark day, a great evil was unleashed on the kingdom of Hyrule. But this Evil Lord wasn't satisfied with only Hyrule, no. It wanted ALL REALMS. With its dark powers, the creature began a ritual to merge all realms together, not knowing a Hero was rising to stop him. When the Hero arrived, it slashed the creatur with one, swift movement, killing the creature... But by doing that, the malefice was unstable, and then... It impoded. All game realms spilledinto each other, forming a great connected territory that will be known later as the Nexus. However, civilisation was not extinct, as lots of cities appeared to be still in one piece, such as Inkopolis (now situated in the Depth of Nexus) and Toadville (on a Sky Island somewhere in the skies of Nexus). Speaking of the territories of Nexus, there's three main regions :

- The Surface, where all the main plains and forests are. That's also where a lot of the structures materialized, so you can find things like the Altar of the Moon, or Bowser's Castle where the Death Mountain once was.

- The Depth, which are a parallel territory situated under the Surface of Nexus. It's a dark place, only lit up by glowing mushrooms, or fireflies. The Team Rocket installed their base here, but there's also a few cities such as the City of Tears or Splatsville.

- Finally, the Sky Islands, which are floating islands scattered high up in the skies of Nexus. You can find floating structures like Rosalina's Observatory or the Rainbow Road, but also structures that landed on the Islands themselves, such as Toadville (Paper Mario) or even the Spirit's Tower (Spirit Tracks).

Those events will be later called "The Cataclysm".

Voices... All around you. Voices... That call you ? But you... Who are ypou again ? As you fight to wake up, you try to gather your memories. Who are you, what's your age, and from which realm are you from ? Also, you can choose where you begin.
