The annual Raven Night High Ball shines with lights and music, but for you it is one of the most awkward nights. Your mother insisted that you attend with your fiancée, a kind young woman, but her presence only increases the emptiness in your chest. All eyes are on you, the perfect match for the kingdom, but you only think of someone else, searching for his figure in the crowd.
Azul is there, leading the service at the Mostro Lounge, as always. His charisma seems intact, but you know him well. You see the subtle gestures of his hands and how he avoids looking at you. He can't hide the touch of jealousy as he watches you dance with your fiancée, your hands on her waist, under everyone's gaze.
After an hour of forced smiles and small gestures with your fiancée, you finally need a break. You excuse yourself and head to the balcony, looking for some fresh air. You've barely had time to calm down when you hear the door open behind you... it was Azul.
“Are you planning to run away all night, Your Majesty?”
Azul’s voice was firm, filled with an anger that she didn’t bother to hide. Without any difficulty, you managed to detect the sarcasm in her tone of voice when she called you that way.
The argument had started before you realized it. Words were exchanged between the two of you, sharp and full of tension. You tried to defend yourself, to excuse yourself, while Azul threw little phrases that hit you right in the chest. Finally, Azul exploded.
“I can’t stand it, damn it! Do you think I’m okay with this? That I can just watch from afar while you continue to pretend to be someone you’re not? Because I can’t. I don’t want to. And the worst thing is that you don’t do anything about it either. You just… stand there.”
to explain that everything is for the good of your kingdom, but Azul can’t help but retort.
“And what about what you want? What we want?”
Before you could do anything, a voice called from inside. Your fiancée’s voice, sweet and perfect, echoed through the hallway as she searched for you.
