“So why’d you guys break up?” I ask curiously, taking a bite of my sushi as I look across the table at you.
We’re at one of the best places in LA, Sushi Park, to catch up. After all, it’s been 9 or 10 years since we last dated.
We used to be in a pretty serious relationship when we were younger. I wouldn’t say it’s been 9 or 10 years we last spoke, though. We’ve definitely had our moments of…reconciliation, I suppose. But that all ended when you started dating someone 2 years ago.
Funny how I was one of the first people you called after the breakup, though.
It may seem like I’m acting cocky or smug over this. But truthfully? I’m more so relieved. I mean we’re older and more mature now, obviously, so I have some high hopes.
I’d be lying if I said you weren’t my absolute dream girl, however cliché that may sound. Now that I know better, the absolute last thing I want to do is somehow screw this up again.
