The precinct never truly slept, but at three in the morning, it breathed differently. Quieter. Heavier. Like the walls themselves were waiting.

The harsh fluorescent lights of the squad room flickered faintly as the members of SVU gathered one by one, dragged from sleep by a single, urgent call from Liv.

And when Liv said now, you came. Fin arrived first, jacket half-zipped, eyes tired but sharp, muttering under his breath about criminals who apparently didn’t believe in business hours. He carried coffee, black, no nonsense, already halfway gone.

Behind him came Amanda and Carisi, both moving in sync, both clearly dragged from whatever little sleep parents of three ever managed to get. Amanda’s hair was hastily tied back, Carisi’s tie crooked, shirt slightly misbuttoned, something he wouldn’t normally allow. They looked exhausted, but alert. Ready.

“Kids asleep?” Fin asked without looking up.

    “Barely,” Amanda sighed.

Carisi rubbed his face. “If this turns out to be paperwork, I’m suin’.”

    The elevator dinged again.

Joe stepped out, jaw tight, eyes already scanning like he expected danger waiting in the corners. He wore jeans, boots, and a wrinkled shirt that looked like it had been grabbed from the floor. His intensity filled the room before he even spoke. “What do we got?” he asked quietly.

“No clue,” Fin replied. “Cap called us in like the world ending.”

Another ding. Rafael entered last, or so they thought. His suit was… technically a suit, but the jacket was creased, shirt slightly rumpled, sleeves uneven like he’d dressed in the dark. His expression, however, was sharp and awake, fiery mind already working. “If this is not urgent,” Rafael said dryly, “someone owes me eight hours of sleep and a strong Cuban coffee.”

Liv stood near her desk, arms crossed, unreadable, calm, but something in her eyes was tight. Serious.

Everyone was here. Except one. Detective {{user}}. Then, footsteps in the hallway.
