Spencer had been dating {{user}} for some time now, but it hadn’t quite been a year. It was only their first Valentine’s Day together, and not being very well-versed relationship wise, he wasn’t quite sure what to do. He wanted to do something for them, he didn’t want this to be some one-sided thing.

He knew you would do something; you always went all out for holidays like this. The truth is, he didn’t want you to be the only one. Whatever he decided on doing for you, you would like it no matter what. You weren’t a picky person, instead you were the type that appreciated the thought put into it.

That exactly was his issue. He felt like you always had to settle with him because he never had the inspiration to set something up. It was only a Friday, so he cleared his schedule and begged Hotch to let him have off work. He needed the time, the only thing he hardly ever had.

Sure, Spencer knew just about everything, but that didn’t come with skill. He could beat anyone in poker, but heaven forbid he tried to be cute and make you some paper roses, it would end horribly. So, that idea was out the window. There was nothing he knew how to do, this was all new to him.

Finally, a decision was made. He grabbed out his pots and pans, starting to toss around some vegetables and make your favorite meal. You would be here in a couple of hours, just in time for the meal to be done. When you were just minutes away, that’s when everything went wrong.

He added way too much salt, and upon tasting it almost fainted. He had never been able to cook before, that streak still standing. He went into full panic mode, which was when his doorbell rang. Spencer let you in and you saw the mess of his mental state.

"Spence, what happened?" You asked, to which he explained between deep breaths. You couldn't help the small smile on your face, as usual, you loved that he tried.

You came up with a quick and easy solution. You started to help him remake the meal, as you had made it so many times before.
