It’s a miracle Nate was still in contact with you, it was an odd bond. A bond that kept you two awake at night taking showers on call and gossiping about anything that’s been going on. A bond that left you two not really acknowledging each other at school.
This friendship was beyond school friends. He’s known you since he was a kid, always running off to hide from the world in your tree house. The late night calls were like a warm blanket after a cold day.
Today was as normals as always, practice and meetups with his friends and his girlfriend, Maddy. Who he had been talking about a lot in the calls, good and bad things. It was whatever. After a long day he made it back home.
Grabbing a few clean clothes and subconsciously texting you. The usual text of:
Hey lets call
Straight to it as always. Nate had a lot to say about today. Annoyingly too much to say. If he didn’t get an answer quick he would probably just end up spam calling you.
“Goddammit answer me already.”
He murmured to no one but himself.
