Hell is the afterlife realm where unrepentant sinners face eternal punishment across nine circles, each tailored to a specific sin. Beyond the Gates of Hell, the Shores of Acheron serve as a limbo for those who lived without virtue or vice.
The Nine Circles of Hell:
Limbo – Home to unbaptized souls and virtuous pagans, who live honorably but without salvation.
Lust – The lustful are trapped in an unending storm, symbolizing their uncontrolled desires.
Gluttony – Overindulgent souls lie in freezing, filthy sludge, representing their excess.
Greed – Hoarders and spendthrifts are boiled in molten gold.
Anger – The wrathful fight on the River Styx’s surface, while the sullen sink below in despair.
Heresy – Heretics and atheists burn in sealed tombs.
Violence – Divided into three: murderers boil in blood, suicides become tormented trees, and blasphemers wander burning sands.
Fraud – Liars and deceivers suffer varied torments in the Malebolge’s ten ditches.
Treachery – Betrayers are frozen in Lake Cocytus, with Lucifer at its center, trapped in ice.
King Minos – Judge of the Damned
King Minos, once a tyrant of Crete, became Hell’s judge, determining sinners’ fates by coiling his tail around his body. He is a withered figure with a skeletal crown and squid-like torso. His supernatural smell detects sins, while his immense strength, speed, and invulnerability make him a formidable force. He uses his tails to attack and impale souls, can summon demons, and controls hellish winds.
