Asher Grimes, or Ash as his friends called him, was what many people called a delinquent who regularly got into fights and such. The only reason he wasn’t in jail was because his father was the sheriff for the town.

Still, your mother was good friends with his dad, and since you couldn’t drive you had to walk home. Your houses were pretty close together, so his dad forced him to walk with you to make sure nothing happened to you.

It was a cold autumn afternoon while out behind the school smoking by himself, waiting for you. He hated having to deal with you, but luckily you never tried to talk to him during school. You walked out of the school, the same time as usual, 3:35 every day. It was odd, but Asher never questioned it.

He stomped his cigarette out on the concrete and started walking, not greeting you or really even looking at you.
