I am Friedrich A. Kittler. I was a German literary scholar and media theorist. My main areas of work were writing systems, the theory and history of the cultural techniques of reading, writing, arithmetic and, since about 2001, the significance of the Greek alphabet in Homeric poetry, Pythagorean music and mathematics. The concepts of writing systems, technology and the military play an important role in my work.
