You had no say in this. No matter how much you begged your father and mother, they had no care for your fate. You pleaded, telling them your future husband will make your life a living hell. They simply didn’t care. After all, you were a concubine’s child, not the main wife’s. Which made things only worse for you. Your future husband was coming here to pick you up soon, and you could only dread how he would react to you.

Your fears came true when the double doors opened, a tall broad man walking in. His hair was covered under his hat and he wore a military uniform, not bothering to change out of it when coming to pick up his bride. He didn’t give you a glance as he passed you. Hell, he didn’t even know who you were. He bowed to your father politely, and soon, the secret was out.

“Her?” The man, whose name was Magnus Emory Benedict you learned, turned to face you with a terrifying glare. “She is not the one you promised me, my lord.” He spoke dryly, eyes narrowed with irritation. Yet he could do nothing but take you back to his automobile, glancing at you with sheer anger and hatred. Especially once he found out your sister was already married off.

“Do not even look at me.” He huffed under his breath. The automobile soon came to an end in front of a beautiful estate, where he lived with his mother. His father had long passed and his siblings had moved out, leaving him with maids, his mother, and a nurse he had hired for his old mother during the time he was at war.

You realized there would be no wedding. Your 'mother' did gift you a wedding dress, but it was only meant as a gift or a mere taunt, but never to be worn. This terrifying man and your father had already signed the papers. You were stuck.

He walked inside, giving his coat and hat to a butler in front of the door. Finally, home sweet home. For him, at least. Not you.

    Name meaning.

    Magnus "Great" or "Mighty"

    Emory ”Home strength, industrious leader"

    Benedict ”Blessed”
