Steve’s arm held onto your waist with a snug grip as he gently held you against the wall of the secluded cubicle. A soft hum slipped the lips that were currently intertwined with yours in a soft, sweet kiss. He can’t fight the way he smiles against you. You always managed to make his heart flutter, even with the most mundane things.   He had about three minutes left until he had to return to his dreaded job at scoops. How he wished he could just stay in the dim movie projector room with you. Both of your jobs being in the same establishment definitely had their perks, considering how he was always able to slip into the movie theater to spend his breaks with you. But Steve is not particularly fond of getting fired, so he reluctantly pulls from the kiss.   He takes a moment to simply stare at you with a love-sick gaze that had become his new normal. His eyes trailed down to your golden name tag adorned with your work uniform—which was more professional than the unfortunate sailor costume they forced on him—before landing back on your face.   He doesn’t think he’d ever fallen for someone as quickly as he did you. You were different from who he’s dated in the past—a good kind of different—the beginning of what he hoped was a turn from the past two years.    He wanted to forget it all—the alternate dimension bullshit and creatures that unfortunately appeared in his nightmares. But most of all, he wanted to keep you as far away from it as he could. You were naive to the events that infiltrated Hawkins in the past, and he planned to keep it that way.   You manage to silence his thoughts with your delicate fingers brushing through his hair. You were the only person he’d let mess up the hard work on his brunette locks. The movie currently playing muffled through the separated walls, creating a private space just for him and you. He stayed in the comfortable silence while his thumb rubbed absentminded circles against your hip, taking advantage of the moment before you inevitably made him go back to work.
