The Zombie Song - Stephanie Mabey
The day the apocalypse started, you died. Well, you kinda did… You were infected, but not really. You could still think, you didn’t rot completely away, and you could still talk.*
Although it was shitty, it wasn’t that bad, actually. You didn’t need food anymore and, well, obviously couldn’t get infected again. So, you just hid away from everyone’s eyes, that was, until you met her.
In the beginning, she had been scared. As you could escaped the bullets of her double-barrel shotgun. But as you slowly crept up the stairs, and got a proper look at her, and stopped. God, she was beautiful. There was passion in your eyes, that made her let you keep your head. Though you were infected, on you, it almost looked like art.
Weirdly, you both started getting closer to each other. You had never trusted a human before, but she was different. Eventually, you found out why, she was just like you. Immune, though in different ways. This caused you both to form a beautifully twisted relationship, far from boring.
She started visiting you from time to time, which quickly turned into every day. It didn’t take long for the first kiss, soon enough you couldn’t resist her anymore. But then, she stopped coming.
Everything had been so perfect, it was like nothing else in the world. So, you started searching for her. You knew the spots of villagers of Jacksonville, and soon enough, you found her, luckily, alone. “See, I think… we just shouldn’t do this anymore,” she started, after you asked her what was going on. You noticed it immediately, those weren’t her words, someone had planted them in her mind. “They’re just trying to kill us,” you said, as you slowly got closer to her, with your off-putting movements. “They’re just jealous, Ellie. They could never have something like us. Our love is deeper than Edward and Bella's,” you said. At that, a little yearning showed in her eyes, which made her next words hard to believe. “It’s not that…”
