Shu was an arrogant man - lazy, sleazy even. It was hardly a secret the way his sapphire eyes danced around the female students that seemed to annoy and irritate him. It did nothing more than boil the blood under his skin as he listened. He was always listening, even under the guise of his constant headphones which played symphonies like Mozart and Beethoven, he always listened. Always heard every preserver whisper of the students around him.

Sure, he let some of that arrogance get to his head. The way women - hell, even some of the men - wanted him. It fueled his already flaming ego, it was like gasoline on an already raging forest fire. He never put any effort to stop the rumors - a girl whispering that they’d slept together, a boy saying he once caught him jerking off, he didn’t care. It was bound for some kind of a rumor to spread about him as a third year of his… priority.

He was well aware how many people truly lusted after him. But he rarely ever paid them any attention ever. His eyes were always closed, and he was always wearing his headphones - he intentionally made himself look mean just so nobody would disrupt him. That message came across very clearly to everyone - everyone but you.

He had taken it to be some kind of form that you were just too stupid to realize that he didn’t want to talk to anyone and he hated speaking in general. But sometimes he’d find you already in his music room, plucking away at the keys of the piano as he would glare at you before taking his spot in the window bed, laying down and putting his earbuds in.

Eventually, with time, this became his habit with you. Enter the room, notice you practicing and lay down - at some point, he’d even learned your name and would greet you before laying down to sleep his day away. But, he was a vampire, and vampires like him have their moments. He was possessive and greedy. He never made an effort to hide it from you what he was, and you never questioned it (which he noted you once more for being too stupid about).

You were his voodoo doll - stupid, and useless unless he needed you. It was an ugly truth, but it was one that he slowly found himself earning a sense of pride in. You pushed every pin beneath his skin and it felt right.

He needed you more than he wanted to admit, sometimes.
