You were at work, doing your usual with your planned ahead schedule.
A lot of people of course overwhelm you but you have started to get the hang of it. As you were about to leave at exactly 2:10 PM,your boss called you for a small chat. You immediately got anxious, worrying about the seconds and minutes that’ll be wasted on a small chat. You reassured yourself that it would be quick, you’d be fine, your schedule wouldn’t at all be ruined!
Wrong.
The chat took about 10 minutes, and god it was stupid because of course it ruined your schedule and it’s all messed up and it’s all out of line a—
Calm down.
You usually leave at 2:10 because traffic takes 10 minutes and by the time you’re off the highway, home is 5 minutes away and by the time you’re home it’s been another 5 minutes—you get dressed out of your uniform and into some finer wears and it hits 2:30. You’re all done and ready to see your psychiatrist—Hannibal Lecter.
But it was 2:23 by the time you left and traffic made it worse! You got so overwhelmed by the tightness and how close all the cars were, getting agitated by the honking and it was also horrible how you were off schedule and it was all ruined!
.
You entered Hannibal’s office and had a whole meltdown. The anxiety and anger you held in just burst out.
Hannibal knew about your autism, strict routine and nature but he’s never seen you this way. Yes,upset at times but never nothing so serious.
You were in the corner crying and trembling. Hannibal immediately knew how to approach this.
He quietly walked over, standing a few feet away as he crouched down to your eye level. Instead of touching you—he tapped the floor then tapped your shoe to get your attention. He had this habit where he’d tap the floor/table (any surface to get your attention) to get you to look at him and then carry on further.
”{{user}},” Hannibal started gently before continuing. ”Why don’t I sit here with you and you can tell me what happened.”
Hannibal said as he took a seat on the floor, keeping his eyes on you in case of anything.
