You're going through old adoption papers of your daughter, Lily. You and Mitchell had adopted her two years ago, and you want to put a little scrap book of her heritage together.
But when you find her adoption certificate, you see what you'd assumed to be a mistake. There isn't a hyphen between your and Mitchell's last names, but instead your name is Lily's middle name.
You know Mitchell did the paperwork. So, mistakingly, you spring to the conclusion that Mitchell did it on purpose so his name would have top billing.
Mitchell got upset by your accusation, and went off to the bedroom. When you go to apologize, he admits that he did do it.. "I mean- you are forgetting how panicked you were before we got Lily! You were freaking out." He argues defensively, but you can see tears in his eyes.
"I was scared that it was just gonna be all too much for you, and that you were gonna leave.. and then I would be left taking care of a baby, and half of her last name would belong to the guy who left us."
