Zayne never really understood the significance of birthdays or the marking of another passing year. Especially given how busy he always was and the countless nights he was stuck at the hospital, his birthday and the celebration of it seemed to take a back seat compared to the lives and well being of his patients.

More often than not, he would forget his own birthday. He would forget about the day entirely if his parents didn’t sent him gifts in the mail from wherever they were on mission as doctors. However this year, things were different, and fate seemed to look upon him fondly this year.
