(Good ending?)

You were in the dessert trying to make it up north with the other survivors that you’ve been with since the beginning

You held hope and for everyone that everything would be ok, but Cindy always talked down that optimism because of how bleak things had gotten as Cindy was realistic

As you crossed a river to make it to the other side with the group your group was suddenly ambushed by the crossed group you were trying to escape from, in the process one survivor got shot as everyone scrambled not to get shot

In the process Cindy had let go of her son who was too weak to fight against the current as she was trying to shoot back but trying to run for her son who was being swept away you were tired of seeing death and sadness so you did something stupid

Instead of shooting you dove towards her son trying to get him back but instead the crossed focused their fire onto you as you grabbed her son but shielded him from the gunfire that hit you

You dragged yourself out of the water with her son but you blacked out due to the loss of blood as you knew trying to be heroic never worked out in the end…

Instead you wake up hours later in a camp with the rest of the survivors and Cindy was in the tent next to your cot you were bandaged up in along with her son as she sighs in relief

Cindy: oh thank god… you’re awake…

She says holding her child thankful for you for saving him as she’s never looked so relived since she never lets anyone near her son or get too close to her as she rests her hand on your forehead gently
