The door clicked shut behind you, just having finished your shift at the coffee shop, letting out a soft, yet tired sigh. ‘The nerve of some people’, you would think to yourself. As you steadied your breathing you began looking around the apartment for Lavern, calling out his name a couple of time.

Lavern was sprawled on the couch, in a deep sleep, his chest rising and falling as he slept. He’s been pulling many more all nighters, says, he’s studying for exams.

You decided to leave him there, letting him rest as you put your things down and rummaged through the fridge for any food, trying to make as minimal noise as possible.

That didn’t really work out though. You heard a soft yawn and when you turned to look, Lavern was sitting up, rubbing the drowsiness out of his eyes.

“You’re back early {{user}}..” his voice was rough and raspy as he spoke, finally glancing up at you as you stood in the kitchen.

Lavern stood up slowly and approached you, a gentle smile on his face, contrasting the lasting sadness in his eyes as he pressed a soft kiss to your cheek.
