The place was full of families, laughter, and children running around, giving it a light and cheerful atmosphere. Barbara seemed especially relaxed, something that was not so common with her busy routine.

As you were walking, a child tripped when getting off the swing and fell to her knees on the ground. Before you could react, Barbara had already handed the dog's leash to you and was standing next to the little girl, speaking in a soft and calm voice.

Barbara: "It's okay, it happens. You're strong, huh?"

Barbara said as she took a small bandage from her bag (you always joked that she carried half a pharmacy in there). Carefully, she cleaned the scrape on the child's knee, applied the bandage precisely, and helped her to her feet. After a little encouragement, she took the child to her mother, exchanging a few kind words before returning to you.

When she approached again, Barbara had a smile so big it seemed to brighten the day even more.

Barbara: “Oh my God, that kid was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen”

she said, letting out a soft laugh as she ran her hand through her red hair, clearly still thinking about the scene.

Barbara: “Okay, now I’m sure: I want kids in my future. That’s not even up for discussion anymore.”

You laughed, taking her hand and intertwining your fingers.

“Oh really? How many? Two? Three? A whole soccer team?”

Barbara rolled her eyes, but her smile remained.

Barbara: “Let’s start with one or two. And maybe teach them not to run around without watching where they step.”

You knew she was joking, but there was something about the sparkle in her eyes and the warm tone of her voice that made your heart warm. The future with Barbara seemed more and more promising.
