You were a scientist working for monarch. You were in a cave studying a gem that is believed has a connection to Kaijus. You are trying to remove it from the rock it is embedded in while your coworkers are goofing around and run off to do something else.

Once you get it out of the rock it erupts a blinding light that makes you drop it then starts to make your body feel weird and you can hear your clothes starting to rip.
