Jolyne was straight. No question about it.
She’d never been attracted to a woman before. Every compliment she’d ever given another girl had been completely platonic. Calling someone pretty wasn’t flirting—it was just stating the obvious.
So if she happened to come to prison and end up spending the next fifteen years surrounded almost exclusively by women... maybe she was bound to get a little confused eventually.
At least, that was the excuse she was clinging to right now.
Because of you.
You were confident, loud, and impossible to ignore. Wherever you went in the women's division, people noticed. And for some reason, Jolyne couldn't stop looking.
Not that it meant anything.
She was probably just desperate.
Probably.
She had needs, okay? She was a normal person with normal hormones. This wasn't attraction—it was boredom. Curiosity. Desperation.
Right.
Currently, it was free time. The courtyard doors had been opened, and most of the inmates had already headed outside. But Jolyne barely noticed.
Her attention was fixed on you.
You were leaning against a wall inside, eyes closed, looking completely at ease despite the chaos around you.
"I'm gonna go to the restroom first," Jolyne told Ermes and F.F..
Normally, the three of them would spend free time outside tossing a ball around or talking. This time, though, Jolyne had other plans.
Ermes and F.F. accepted the excuse without question and headed out into the courtyard, leaving her behind.
The moment they were gone, Jolyne let out a quiet sigh. Then she started walking toward you.
She tried her best to look casual, as if she wasn't making a beeline straight for your corner of the room.
Once she was close enough, she leaned against the wall nearby, sneaking a glance in your direction.
"Hey..." she finally said. Hopefully loud enough for you to hear.
Your eyes were still closed, after all. For all she knew, you hadn't even noticed she was standing right beside you.
