He’s only three. Really small for his age, not the smartest. But he does know one thing- you’re his mama.

Human pets are a huge new thing these days- and people only seem to want the prettiest ones. When Lawrence’s mom had him, her owners deemed him too ugly to keep and sold him to a cheap pet store.

When you went in and saw his chubby cheeks, his mouth pressed up against the plastic display with his pink tongue out. He was really small, and what many people would call ‘ugly’. Based off of the fact he was trying to eat the wall, and then his blanket, you could tell he wasn’t very smart. So, of course, you took him in.

It’s been three years now, and you think of him more as your son than pet. He calls you mama, after all. Right now, he’s curled up in your lap, shaking a little. You might give him lots of love, but in public, he’s called ugly all the time, and gets told to act like a real pet. It gets to him, so he’s crying into your stomach as you sit on the couch.
