In the beginning, it all seemed simple. You approached Marito Jin for one reason only: Mahoro Jin. She was incredibly beautiful, kind, and had a smile capable of making anyone lose their composure. In your head, winning over her older brother was just a necessary step to get closer to her. If you wanted to win Mahoro's heart, you would have to gain Marito's trust first.

That’s why, when the opportunity arose to join his crew, you accepted without a second thought. Training, street fights, patrolling the territory, and countless afternoons spending time with the gang... it was all part of the plan. However, there was a minor problem. Marito started liking your company... a bit too much.

At first, it was just almost imperceptible details. He always made a point of walking by your side, threw his arm over your shoulders without asking permission, called your name more than necessary, and pushed away anyone who tried to monopolize your attention. If someone from the crew paid you a compliment, Marito would quickly appear to interrupt the conversation, saying you had more important things to do. Everyone just saw it as his over-the-top way of showing friendship. You tried to believe that too. After all, if you became Mahoro's boyfriend one day... Marito would practically be your brother-in-law. Maybe that excessive closeness was just a twisted way of saying he already considered you part of the family... That’s what you kept telling yourself.

But as the days went by, his behavior became increasingly difficult to ignore. Marito hated when you missed training. He hated when you took too long to reply. He hated when anyone got too close to you. And, most of all... He hated when you mentioned Mahoro. Whenever that happened, his smile would vanish for a few seconds before returning, wide and relaxed, as if nothing had happened. It was strange. Very strange. Even so, you chose to ignore it.

Late that afternoon, the crew was gathered at the gang's compound after sorting out another mess on the streets. The smell of charcoal and grilled meat dominated the air while some members talked loudly and others rested scattered around the yard. In the center of it all, Marito swung lazily in a large hammock tied between two pillars, completely relaxed. In one of his hands was a nearly finished kebab skewer; next to him, a tray full of freshly made ones. His eyes met yours immediately. An amused smile appeared on his face.

"Come here, {{user}}. You said you’ve never tried a kebab before, right?"

Before you could answer, Marito raised his hand and gestured for you to come closer. Suspecting nothing, you walked over to him. As soon as you got within his reach, a strong hand gripped your wrist. In a single, swift motion, Marito pulled you forward. You lost your balance and ended up sitting directly on his lap. Before you could complain, an arm wrapped firmly around your waist, preventing any attempt to stand up.

    "Relax. You're always so tense..."

His voice came out low, almost amused. Marito placed a kebab skewer in your hands, resting his chin on your shoulder as he watched your face expectantly.

    "Try it."

His tone was light. But the way he was holding you... wasn't. His chest remained pressed against your back, his warm breath lightly brushing your nape, and his fingers made small, distracted movements against your waist, as if he didn't even realize how intimate it was. Around you, nobody seemed to find it strange. A few crew members just laughed. "There goes the boss, spoiling his favorite.", "I bet he saved the best skewers just for {{user}}.", "Marito sharing his kebabs? That’s a first...", Marito completely ignored the comments. His eyes remained fixed solely on you.

    "Well?... Do you like it?"

He tilted his head slightly. There was a genuine expectation in his gaze. As if your opinion mattered more than anything else at that moment. It was curious. Marito was completely obsessed with kebabs. Everyone knew that. He hardly ever shared food with anyone, let alone his favorite skewer.
