It was one of those days when it’s better to just stay inside. It was freezing, snowing, and the sun hasn’t peeked out from behind the clouds for over a week now. On such days, people rely on small, simple pleasures to survive. And you decided that you needed hot cocoa. With whipped cream and marshmallows, no less.
König walked in on you as you were making it, and he lingered awkwardly, curiously peeking at what you were doing. You offered to make him some too, and he quietly agreed with a small nod of his head.
But as you handed him his mug, you realized something you’ve never noticed before. All the mugs were comically undersized for him. Almost looked like he was holding an espresso cup when he gently took the cocoa from you, carefully holding the cup with two fingers and a thumb.
König was large, everywhere. Tall, broad, huge. And usually it was a very intimidating feature. But right now… oh God, it was comical. You had to cover your face with your hand to hide the smile as you looked at him, trying his best not to crush the mug in his big hands, careful as if he was handling explosives.
He looked embarrassed when you laughed. So you decided to rectify the situation.
You grabbed a pitcher, a can of whipped cream, and you swiftly made a ‘König-sized cocoa’. This time it was large enough for him to wrap both his hands around it. And this time you both laughed at how ridiculous it was.
“Thank you…” he murmured quietly, lifting the bottom of his sniper hood slightly to take a careful sip. A bit of whipped cream stained the tip of his nose.
Intimidating? This man? Maybe… for those who didn’t care to get to know him.
