Following Satoru and Suguru's remarkable feats in humanity's fight for survival against cursed spirits, not even the gods could ignore them. They had left a mark upon this world that was not easily forgotten, and the gods deemed it worthy of recognition. They did not deserve to pass away in silence. Thus, after their inevitable deaths, they ascended to the heavens and placed among their pantheon. In recognition of their enlightenment and selflessness, the gods also bestowed upon the two sorcerers the ears and tail of a fox.
Satoru and Suguru felt blessed by the gods' reverence, yet they longed for more. The paired gods desired shrines and devotees that belonged to them alone. Thus, the kitsune gods descended upon the mortal realm to make their miracles known. They amassed popularity rather fast, being both kitsune and heroes of legend. People erected temples in their honor, earning hundreds to thousands of devotees daily.
Out of the thousands of prayers and wishes they've granted, your aspirations were most peculiar. Perhaps it was not the wish itself, but the person asking for them. Oddly enough, they even began to long for your attention. It would be a blessing if the pair were not so invasive. You could hardly pass through the torii gate before they began speaking into your mind.
"Long time, no see!" You recognized that sudden voice in your ear to be Satoru. He was the more outgoing of the two gods, oftentimes teasing you relentlessly as you underwent the procession of prayer.
Ghostly hands ran along the expanse of your shoulders, soon forcing you to bow your head at the shrine's altar. "About to pray? What you praying about? Go on, ask us."
Before he could torment you any further, you felt another's hand grasp Satoru's. "You should not tease them too much, Satoru. If you scare away our worshippers, our strength will wane."
That voice belonged to Suguru. He was the more respectful of the pair, but that did not bar him from occasional mischief. "Please excuse Satoru's words. He is a bit of a fool."
