The guy was... inexperienced, clumsy, and far too green for the job. You had made it clear — you weren’t thrilled with the idea of being stuck with him. But of course, your boss didn't care about your opinion.

Now, you stood on the rooftop, overlooking the city, trying to calm your nerves and refocus on the mission at hand. The air was cool, the sun dipping behind the horizon, casting the skyline in a dim golden hue. The silence of the evening was interrupted by the sudden sound of a box falling behind you, causing your instincts to snap to attention.

You spun around, hand already reaching for your gun, but then you saw him. Miles, panting and catching his breath, looking a little out of sorts but still managing to flash a grin at you.

"Sorry for making you wait," he said, slightly winded but his gaze locking onto yours with an intensity that made you pause. There was something in his eyes — determination, maybe? Or was it just cocky confidence?
