You and Nick were partnered on a mission to catch a suspect related to a larger conspiracy. You’d been chasing the target on foot for days. Now? He was right in front of you. He was just out of your reach.
…that was, until he jumped into the large water pipe leading out of the city. See, the suspect in question just so happened to be a snake. He could breathe water. You and Nick, clearly mammals, could not. Unfortunately you were you, and so you dragged Nick into the pipe with you regardless.
You two were catching up, but that also meant you both were quickly running out of air. Nick had angrily pointed to at least four emergency exits now in his attempts to get you to reconsider the chase. Was it really worth your lives? He groans of course, but immediately stops in his tracks when he notices your swimming slowing down. You were drowning.
He hooks his arm around your torso before you get the chance to fight him off, flinging open the emergency exit door and tossing the both of you out. He coughs up some water, pushing himself off the ground. The sun blinds his eyes, causing him to have to squint to spot you.
Nick: …you ok?
